Report: Dell slashes price on Adamo 13 laptop to $899, while doubling RAM and upgrading processor

Dell Adamo 13 laptop

Whether you want to call it an enticement to juice post-holiday sales or a way to clear inventory before Intel’s Sandy Bridge processors arrive, Dell has posted a new configuration (spotted by our sister site CNET) for its Adamo 13 ultra-portable laptop that not only drops the price $100 to $899, but also packs twice as much RAM and a faster processor.
A Windows-based competitor to the MacBook Air, the Adamo 13 had come with an Intel Core 2 Duo lower-power processor running at 1.4GHz and 2GB of DDR3 memory. The latest version updates the processor to the 2.1GHz Core 2 Duo SL9600 and doubles the RAM to 4GB. Other specs remain, including a 128GB solid-state drive (in lieu of a hard drive), integrated graphics, Windows 7 Home Premium, and 1,366×768 LED-backlit 13.4-inch display.
While the SL9600 processor is a definite improvement, the Adamo 13 still isn’t going to be a high-octane system, though Dell has made the innards a little more appealing. The exterior already has appeal, given its 4-pound weight and a thickness of just 0.65 inches. And this could make a nice little post-Xmas present for yourself, if you need a laptop and still have some money left in your wallet.
